Benefits of working at Abbe

Part of the package

New employee onboarding
We offer an extensive onboarding experience to ensure we give you the best opportunity to understand our culture, people, policies, and processes, including your role-specific responsibilities. As part of the induction process, we provide the necessary training and resources to adapt and thrive in your role quickly.

Training and development
We place great importance on ensuring employees are growing and developing in their roles. Our aim is to ensure that their skills are constantly evolving and remain up-to-date, and we are highlighting potential career growth opportunities. Abbe is committed to providing professional development that caters for both administration and factory team members.

Annual performance review
Annual performance reviews are an integral aspect of our processes and values. These reviews enable us to engage in open, two-way conversations with our staff regarding their performance, acknowledge areas where they excel, and discuss potential opportunities for us to offer support and assistance in areas that may require further development and training. It also allows our staff to provide feedback to their manager and request support and training they feel they need to increase their skill set and performance. These reviews not only benefit the individual employees but also contribute to the overall growth and success of Abbe.

Health, wellbeing, and EAP
At Abbe, we prioritise the well-being of our employees, recognising the significance of their mental and physical health. To support them in this aspect, we provide access to an on-site physiotherapist to address any physical concerns they may have. Furthermore, our confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to offer emotional and mental support whenever needed.

Our Employee Assistance Program provides a confidential platform for employees and their families to seek advice on a wide range of topics, such as decision-making, goal setting, financial and legal matters, parenting and relationship guidance, communication skills improvement, coping with grief and loss, and resolving workplace conflicts, among others. Through our program, we aim to support the holistic well-being of our employees by offering professional assistance in various areas of their lives.

Work-life balance and flexibility
We strongly encourage all our employees to make the most of their personal lives by spending quality time with friends and family. As a company, we value work-life balance and encourage employees to take their well-earned annual leave and long service leave (if applicable). It is important that we support our team members in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

As a family-owned business, we understand that everyone has a life outside of work, and at times, employees will need flexibility to attend to personal matters during work time. Abbe offers flexibility around personal commitments to ensure we are a dynamic and adaptable workplace to employees’ external commitments.

Abbe also offers a working-from-home policy that enables employees to work one day per week from their home office (role-specific), providing flexibility.

Companywide communication
Effective communication within the workplace is crucial for fostering inclusivity and keeping employees informed about company operations. Our organisation conducts regular monthly meetings where leaders from each business unit share updates on their respective departments. This ensures that everyone is well-informed and has a clear understanding of the progress being made across the entire organisation.

Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion
We are dedicated to fostering a culture that embraces inclusivity and diversity. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, understood, and supported, regardless of their personal identity or beliefs. With a team of over 600 staff members representing 28 different nationalities and cultures, we value individuality, celebrate uniqueness, and encourage authenticity. We are fully committed to promoting, implementing, and educating our staff on the importance of creating an equal-opportunity and inclusive workplace for everyone.

Service recognition program
At Abbe, we value commitment and have a reward and recognition program to celebrate and recognise employees who have tenure over 10 years.

Corporate social responsibility
Like every business in Australia, we have a responsibility to support our community, including our internal community of employees and stakeholders and the broader external community.

For several years now, Abbe has been partnering with ‘The Good Box’ to provide boxes of essential items to those experiencing homelessness. By doing so, we aim to bring dignity and brightness into their lives. We also offer the opportunity for our staff to get involved in various volunteer days throughout the year that help collate all the donated items into specially designed boxes from Abbe. R U OK Day is a very important day on the Abbe calendar.  At Abbe, we bring awareness not only to R U Ok day but every day about the importance of good mental health and wellbeing.  We encourage employees to start meaningful conversations with their colleagues, customers, family, and friends. Opening a safe dialogue and line of communication with those around you keeps people connected and may even save someone’s life. R U OK Day is part of a public health movement that promotes mental well-being through meaningful conversations. To read more about this important initiative, click here.
