Accident Compensation Act, 1985
Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd recognises and supports specific objectives of the Accident Compensation
Act, 1985, including:
1. The reduction of the incidence of accidents and disease in the workplace;
2. The provision of suitable systems for the effective rehabilitation of injured employees;
3. The provision of suitable and just compensation to injured employees;
4. The speedy and efficient determination of claims for compensation;
5. The reduction of cost of accident compensation to the organization.
Policy
Through effective consultation and ongoing commitment, Management will provide a healthy and safe work
environment for all of the employees of Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd and actively seek to ensure the
prevention of workplace injury and illness.
Our objective will be achieved through the following;
1. The integration of the commitment into all organisational activities;
2. The establishment of workplace safety roles and functions and the appointment of competent persons to fulfill those functions;
3. Making all levels of management and supervisory staff accountable for implementing health and safety practices and procedures;
4. Ensuring adequate training in, and communication of, health and safety practices and procedures; and
5. Establishing an effective policy review mechanism.

REHABILITATION POLICY
Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd is committed to ensuring injured employees make a speedy recovery from their injury, and to ensuring that injured employees are educated as to the benefits of rehabilitation.
A rehabilitation program is the process of combining medical treatment with a multi disciplinary range of skills such as:
Physiotherapy
Chiropractor
Occupational therapy
Psychology
Ergonomist
Vocational counselling
The outcome of the program should see an injured worker taking up a position in the workplace and community that will enable their quality of life to be meaningful and satisfactory.
Management shall positively cooperate in rehabilitation programs, designed to provide for the early and effective rehabilitation of injured employees under the following guidelines:
1. Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd will encourage the early reporting of injuries so that those responsible can immediately initiate rehabilitation programs regardless of whether lost time has resulted or not;
2. Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd will appoint and encourage the use of designated rehabilitation providers whilst at the same time recognising the employee's right of choice;
3. Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd will provide cooperation and assistance in relation to any rehabilitation program and will implement reasonable workplace or workstation modifications recommended by a rehabilitation provider;
4. Rehabilitation providers will be provided access to Abbe Corrugated Pty Ltd for job assessment and case discussion purposes;
5. The Return To Work Coordinator will carefully monitor return to work employees to ensure that the injury is not aggravated;
6. All return to work offers will be made in writing after consultation with the employee and the treating physician; and
7. The Return To Work Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of
this policy.
